Convicted serial killer won on 'Dating Game'

(CNN) -- Before he was a convicted serial killer, Rodney Alcala was a winning bachelor on "The Dating Game."


"Oh yeah, I remember it quite clearly," said Jed Mills, the game-show contestant who sat next to Alcala in 1978. "He was creepy. Definitely creepy."

'The Hurt Locker' is best picture

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- The final score: David 6, Goliath 3.


"The Hurt Locker" earned six Oscars at the 82nd annual Academy Awards Sunday night, taking home the biggest prize -- best picture -- as well as honors for its director, original screenplay, sound editing, sound mixing and film editing.

New York (CNN) -- Natalie Wood once said in a televised interview that her greatest fear was of dark seawater. Later, in November 1981, she drowned in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Catalina Island, California.


The star's drowning death is one of Hollywood's most enduring mysteries. Although the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office ruled that Wood's death was an accident, and the sheriff says the case is closed, others say there are pieces of the puzzle that don't make sense.

Hollywood, California (CNN) -- Mo'Nique, who played an abusive mother in "Precious," won best supporting actress at the 82nd annual Academy Awards Sunday night.


In a fierce and memorable acceptance speech, the actress thanked the Academy, "Gone With the Wind" actress Hattie McDaniel "for enduring all that she had to, so that I would not have to" and her husband "for showing me sometimes you have to forego doing what is popular in order to do what is right."

Brad Paisley OK after fall from stage

(CNN) -- Country music singer-songwriter Brad Paisley was examined and released from a hospital after taking a nasty spill during a South Carolina concert Saturday, the entertainer says on his Web site and Twitter account.


"I hit hard," Paisley wrote on Twitter. "And I mean freaking hard."
